How to Mod PSP

No Mod Chip, No Pandora Battery, and No Magic Memory Stick Required

Keep reading to find out more…

When you want to learn how to mod PSP, you have several options. You can do a hardware modification (hard-mod), you can install a Magic Memory Stick and Pandora Battery, or you can perform a software modification (soft-mod).

A hard-mod is done by using a mod chip and installing it inside your PSP, while a soft-mod uses a special software and files that you simply download from a certain site online and upload into your PSP. Both of them will unlock your PSP and it will have the same features, the only difference is the way you do the modification and if you want to take the risk with the hard-mod. (which I suggest you don’t)

I personally always recommend to go with the soft-mod when you mod your PSP for a few reasons. For one, using software is much safer and won’t void your warranty like a mod chip will.

Another reason I like to use software is because it’s a lot easier to do. In order to install a mod chip, you need to have experience doing this kind of stuff or know somebody else who does. If you try to just do it on your own without prior experience, there’s a good chance you will mess something up inside your PSP and it might not even turn on anymore. Now you’re left with a broken PSP and no warranty to get it repaired.

Using the software and files on the other hand is much easier. You just download the files you need, save them onto a memory stick, and upload them into your PSP. You’ve now figured out how to mod PSP and never even had to take the system apart. You also didn’t have to buy a Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick.

Click Here to Visit the Site for Playbrew Station Now

The method that I will be covering here will work for any PSP firmware version as long as it’s 5.03 or lower. If you’re unsure which firmware you’re currently running and you don’t know how to check, I wrote up a quick set of instructions to show you how to easily find it out. You can see it here: How to check your PSP firmware version

Here is a Quick Demonstration of What you Can Do With a Modded PSP

So Where Do you Get the Files to Mod PSP?

There are a few sites on the web that have the files and software, but there’s a couple things you need to take into consideration before you just start downloading and installing them into your PSP.

1. You need to be sure that the site you’re using is safe. I’ve come across a few different sites that claimed to have the PSP mod files and they were nothing more than corrupted files that gave my computer a virus. I even bricked one of my PSPs before because I used a set of corrupted files and installed them into my PSP.

Because of this, I recommend staying away from free file-sharing sites like Rapid Share, Media Fire, Z Share, etc. for downloading your mod software. You really have no idea what people have uploaded to those sites.

2. The files should come with a guide. While the installation process might seem pretty straight-forward, depending on where you go, the steps will be different. For example, the files you download on Site A may not install the exact same way as the files from Site B. This is why it’s important that your files come with a guide to show you exactly what you need to do to mod your PSP. It will save you a lot of wasted time and headaches.

What Site Do I Use and Recommend for Unlocking Your PSP?

After testing out many different sites and running into my fair share of viruses, bricked PSPs, and other annoying problems, I found one site that really worked and I had a good experience with. The site is called Playbrew Station. What I really like about Playbrew Station is that their software and files are 100% safe and you don’t have to worry at all about getting a virus onto your computer or PSP console. They also include a very detailed instruction manual to go with the files that will show you exactly how to mod PSP and walk you through the whole process. It takes only about 10 minutes after downloading all the material and software for you to have unlocked your system.

Click Here to Visit the Site for Playbrew Station Now

Features of Playbrew Station and Why I Recommend Them

100% safe and secure files. You don’t have to worry at all about downloading a virus to your computer or PSP.

Detailed instruction manual will walk you through the entire process of how to mod PSP.

Will work for all firmware versions 5.03 and lower and all PSPs. This includes PSP Slim along with the regular PSP.

Unlocks the ability to play Homebrew games, downloaded and backup games, emulators (games from other consoles), imported and region locked games, and much more.

Very easy to use and doesn’t require a mod chip, Pandora Battery, or Magic Memory Stick.

Only $29 which makes it very affordable. That is less than the price of buying one PSP game.

Satisfaction guaranteed. If for any reason you don’t like Playbrew Station or what your PSP can do after you mod it, you can request a full refund.

So the choice is yours. If you want to learn how to mod PSP, you can either download files from an untrusted site and risk getting a virus and ruining your PSP, or you can use a trusted site like Playbrew Station. I personally was happy to pay the $29 to make the whole modding process as simple as possible. I was paying more for each game I bought anyway, and since I’ve learned how to mod my PSP, I’m able to play downloaded and copied games which means I save a ton of money by not having to buy new ones. To me, it was well worth it.

So if you’re finally ready to unlock your PSP…

Click Here to Visit the Site for Playbrew Station Now

After You Do That…

Once your PSP has been modded by using Playbrew Station, you might want a good site where you can download a ton of new games, movies, music, and other software for it since you will now have the ability to do so.

I found a really good site for this and I made a post about it which you can read here: Best Place to Download Games and Files After you Learn How to Mod PSP

Check it out, I think you’re gonna like it.

Once you’ve successfully figured out how to mod PSP, you’re going to want to fully experience everything that you can do with the system. One of the best things you can do is play downloaded games, music, movies, Homebrew apps, and much more.

Now there are a few different sites out there that have all these files available for download, but you have to be careful with which one you use because some are known to contain viruses and malware which can ruin your computer or PSP.

After going through all the crappy sites on the net with corrupted and non-working files, I finally found a site that I was really impressed with. They have over 200,000 different games, music, movies, and much more all available to download when you become a member. The site is called the PSPgo Download Center.

Features of the PSPgo Download Center

Over 200,000 different files to choose from. This includes games, music, movies, TV shows, and software.

100% safe and secure. No risk of viruses or malware.

Unlimited downloads.

Very affordable. Only $39 for a lifetime membership which is less than the price of one PSP game.

Awesome tech support.

Very fast downloads.

Compatible with any version of the PSP. (Including PSP Slim, PSP go, PSP Fat, and all others)

I’m really excited about having found this site and I’m sure you will be too. Now that you have a modded PSP, it’s time to unleash it’s full power by downloading tons of new stuff for it and the PSPgo Download Center is the perfect place to do it.

Don’t risk getting a virus because you downloaded some corrupted files from a knock-off site. I realize it’s an extra $39 to spend, but if you think about it, you would have been spending that money on a new PSP game sometime in the near future anyways. By joining PSPgo Download Center, you will have over 200,000 different games and other files to choose from so you’ll never get bored. It’s well worth the cost, trust me.

Click Here to Check Out PSPgo Download Center

I’m sure you would like to know all the things you can do with your PSP once you figure out how to mod it. So that’s why I wanted to write this quick post to let you know all the cool things the PSP is capable of doing. Once you see all these extra features, you will definitely want to unlock your PSP right away.

1. Play homebrew games and apps. One of the newest things to hit the gaming world is the development of “homebrew” games and applications. Homebrew basically just means that it was created by a gamer using their own programming as opposed to commercially made by a company. The creator then uploads their application to the web for everyone else to download and start playing. There are tons of homebrew files available and more being made everyday. Once you’re able to mod your PSP, all of this will be available to you as well.

2. Backup and play copied games. This is one of my favorite things about having an unlocked PSP because I save a ton of money by not having to buy new games. You will be able to copy any game you own and play the backup right on your PSP.

3. Play imported and region locked games. There are a lot of games that are “locked” to users in certain countries. For example, some Japanese games cannot be played on an American PSP. When you learn how to mod PSP, you will be able to play all of these games without any problems at all.

4. Play emulators and games from other consoles. This is another really cool feature you get with a modded PSP. Now you are not only able to play PSP games, but you can play games from consoles such as Sega Genesis, Nintendo, SNES, Gameboy, and lots of other systems as well. You will now easily have access to thousands of different games that the average gamer can’t play on their PSP.

So as you can tell, learning how to mod PSP is definitely worth your time to do. You will unlock a portable gaming system that completely blows all the others away and you will have more uses for the PSP than you ever thought possible. As an owner of an unlocked PSP myself, I know you will enjoy it.

When it comes to modding your PSP, you have two choices. You can either use a mod chip or you can do a softmod with some files and software. I personally recommend going with the softmod and I will discuss why below.

When it comes to modding your PSP, you have two choices. You can either use a mod chip or you can do a softmod with some files and software. I personally recommend going with the softmod and I will discuss why below.

When you install a mod chip into your PSP, you will void the warranty on it. If something goes wrong during the modification or at any point in the future, you might be left with a broken PSP and not be able to send it into Playstation for repairs. This means you will need to go out and buy a new PSP setting you back a good amount of money.

Another reason why I don’t recommend using a mod chip is that they can be complicated to install if you don’t know what you’re doing. The chances of messing something up with the hardware are much higher if you’re new to modding a PSP and you could be left with a broken system and no warranty.

On top of both of those reasons, mod chips can cost a good amount of money. Not only are the chips themselves rather expensive, but if you have to pay someone else to install it for you, that’s even more you’re spending.

Software modifications are much cheaper and easier to do. Anyone that knows how to download files off the internet and save them to a memory stick will know how to mod PSP by doing a softmod. If you aren’t even familiar with how to do that, there are guides online that will show you how. Along with being easy, software modifications are much safer and will not void the warranty on your system. This is a huge benefit to most users.

So after reading this, I hope you have a better understanding of why you should avoid using a chip to mod your PSP. Using the correct files and software is a lot easier and safer since you can’t really harm your PSP in the process and everything is reversible.

If you want to learn how to mod PSP, you’re in the right place. I made this site to be a resource for anyone that is looking to unlock their PSP so that they can start to experience all that it has to offer.

Back when I was first trying to mod my PSP, I went and searched online for how to do it and all the sites I came across were crap. They were either outdated, gave bad information, or were too confusing for me to understand. I finally found an easy way to mod my PSP and I am going to share that with all of you here. You will be glad to hear that this method doesn’t even require you to install a mod chip at all. Everything is done with files and software so that your PSP is never taken apart and the warranty will never be voided.

I will be posting my full method soon so keep checking back for it.

Thanks for reading,
