How to Check Your PSP Firmware Version
I’ve gotten a lot of questions from people about how to check which firmware version their PSP is currently running. As you have probably seen, the method for modding your PSP that I discuss on this page only works for versions 5.03 and lower. Before you go ahead and attempt the mod, you need to make sure you’re running the right firmware version on your PSP so you know if it will work or not.
Here is a quick way to check:
1. On your main screen, scroll over to “Settings” and click on it.
2. Once in Settings, scroll to “System Settings” and click on that.
3. You should now see an option that says “System Information” and you want to select that.
4. When you’re in System Information, you will see a screen that looks like the one below. Your firmware version is the number after “System Software”. If it’s 5.03 or lower, you will be able to mod your PSP by using the method talked about on this site. If it’s anything higher, you will need to downgrade.

I hope that clears up any questions you might have regarding your PSPs firmware version and how to check it. If you have any other questions feel free to drop a comment.
